| | Topic: | Demoparty In Waterloo, Canada | | | | I'm hoping to start a demo team at the University of Waterloo. http://souls.sytes.com in the forums for more info. I'm calling it a computer graphics & physics club so people know what I'm talking about. I figured that if all goes well, I will have a party here too. I don't imagine it would be anything huge, but I'm sure I can book a meeting room or lecture hall here. There are plenty of bars around here too. I just wanted to know who would be interested. | | |
| Go for it. U.Waterloo would be an *ideal* place for something like this.
.. but what does Physics have to do with it?
| you go girl!
start with meetings, they are usually more fun and less stressfull to organize :)
| I'd drop the physics and throw in art instead. Or not. Maybe throw in art and keep physics...
Anyway, I'm interested but I will probably be very, very far away. Still, interested (:
And yes start small, do a pubmeet or something, get a few friends who are interested together and go to the pub and talk about demos. Take a laptop and watch a demo. Watch the soccer fans wonder what you're all so interested in, explain demos to soccer fan, get told 'cool' and then go on with doing what you do and they'll do what they do. Find creative way to announce next pubmeet.
Just go for it. | | |
| is there "poutine" in this comp gfx club ?
\o/ | | |
| | I didn't know there was a Canadian university named after a Belgian city :) | | |
| | If you hosted a scene styled demo party there, I think you'd have a fair amount of visitors interested if it were handled well. I think you'd have many US sceners interested as well. I've never been to CA so it'd be a nice excuse to visit. | | |
| I know it's been ages, but I figured I should reply anyways. It's not going to happen, at least not until next summer and even that is an unknown. Don't keep your hopes up.
In other news, I'm in the Toronto area and if anyone needs a good C++/OpenGL coder, I'm available.
