Topic:  Good Terminal like font for ASCII art viewing (incl. extended characters)?
* Posted by jelbo Friday 7 January 2005 - 20:05
I'm looking for a good font to view ASCII art with. VGAOEM.FON seems to be a very good one, but on some systems it won't display all ASCII characters very well (like the small blocks and other characters). I modified this font so it has another name and thus can be installed on any sysyem. I called it ASCII and it's Terminal 9. Anyway, maybe you real scener people ;) know a font I should use, instead of my hacked one. Many thanks in advance.

P.S. My hacked Terminal 9 font can be found at http://cursors.pocketheaven.com/bin/ASCII.zip

for Amiga ascii, topaz 8 is best. It's also best for everything else (: I'm not opinionated about it or anything.

Also good are of course P0t-nOodle, B-struct, B-strict, Microknight, and mOsoul - for Amiga ascii stuff.

There are many different windows .FON files that have decent fonts in them. Various adaptations have been done for linux and osX and other systems (including Amiga) - enough that basically you have your pick once you FIND them. I personally have a font that was dumped from the rom of some odd machine back in about 94 that works great for me, but I have to FIND the thing now... luckily I'm collecting my files from the states and can do so.

various places devoted to the ascii scene can provide more info (:
