 | | Topic: | WHO WANTS TO DO A REMIX? | | | Hello my fellow musical enthusiasts...
Graham here from the band Doublejo(H)ngrey. We've got an EP coming out on Valentine records pretty soon, and we're looking for remixes. [don't know if we'll ever relase them, but snazzy records' last doublejo(H)ngrey 12" had remixes from Testrack and Protoplasm Daddy on it, so you never know!].
Below is some info about each track and a link to a clip of each. Have a read, have a listen. Email me with which track you want to remix and your address and i'll post you a data CD, all .wav files like. I want to get as many remixes as possible to hawk round some other labels that want to hear some of our stuff. Maybe we'll submit it for Hippocamp.net or somthing too, i don't know.
let me know anyway...

PS also check out this far out review of the offending EP:

Doublejo(H)ngrey - 'Life's a lot of fun'
1. Life's a lot of fun.
http://www.valentinerecords.co.uk/sounds/djg/009-01.mp3
about 104 bpm.
main riff is a flute sound on a mellotron.
quite mellow, not too dark, spacey vocals, 909 beats, beepy toms, live bass phasing, reverby analogue organ.
Sample of a man saying "life's a lot of fun, you've got to remember that, and keep having fun"
Vocals say "trust in me to teach your hart to break" and "full of goodbyes". very cheerful.
gets louder at the end, but still pretty psychadelic.
2. A Long Song For the Broken Hearted.
http://www.valentinerecords.co.uk/sounds/djg/009-02.mp3
about 113 bpm.
live bass main riff.
bit more upbeat, but still not dark sounding.
mellowish breakbeat/ electroish.
loads of stacato synths, electric piano, filtered analogue synths, builds to house beat but still quite slow.
vocals: "a belief untested is no real belief / free from blame and free from praise / finding a reason in all this waste"
vocoder outro...
3. Broadcast
http://www.valentinerecords.co.uk/sounds/djg/009-03.mp3
about 114 bpm
bleepy analogues, quite guitary chorus, airy and quite meloncholy sounding.
electo beat with 909s and bleeps,
has an epic build in the middle, quite proggy.
quite a lot of parts to play with: guitars, elec piano, bass, feedbacks, reed organ.
4. Meandrathols
http://www.valentinerecords.co.uk/sounds/djg/009-04.mp3
about 95bpm
most dark sounding track.
low analogue bass, distorted guitars, reverbed bassdrums, electric piano.
massively epic mellow middle bit (40 instruments playing simultaneously) with mandolin, guitars, synths, effected bass, breakbeat, reed organ...
vocals "it's just whitewashed blood and soil / you don't stand a prayer in my home town"
noisy ending distortion shouting etc...
ends in loads of feedback.
5. Now and again my dear
http://www.valentinerecords.co.uk/sounds/djg/009-05.mp3
about 74 bpm
slowest track on the EP. very dark and mellow.
low live bass, seaside organ, echo vocals, analogue synth, dark reverbed beats.
vocals "there are no words to follow / join hands and pray / nothing really matters / let us join hands and pray"
occasional ragga laser guns.
ends in strange feedback and a shaker thing: very prog!
6. Former Captives
http://www.valentinerecords.co.uk/sounds/djg/009-06.mp3
about 152 bpm
noisiest song on the album.
starts mellow dark elec piano chords, wierd distorted buildup.
punky/housey beat, shouted vocals, dark vocal samples, flanging fat bass.
organs, low bass and beats.
very short punky song. | | |
