Topic:  Ancient "Toys" demo?
* Posted by Kargor Thursday 21 January 2010 - 1:53
Well, to tell the truth... ever since the old Amiga days I almost never stumbled across a "good" demo anymore, so I sort of stopped looking.

However, "just now", a song came up --- and now I "need to" find some old PC demo :-) Google doesn't find anything, neither does edonkey -- but then, I don't really have a clue what to search for.

I only remember a few things. The demo is probably called "Toys", although I'm not 100% sure. Which makes a terrible search term if you're not actually looking for stuff to play with. It's very old, but uses Direct3D already. The first song at least is something along the lines of "once upon a december", "figures dancing gracefully" --- and the first part of the demo is indeed about dancing figures. The 2nd part is different, it shows a room with a child in bed, lots of toys --- and they come alive. And just when the kid wakes up and looks around they stop again.

Anyone has a clue what I'm talking about... or even better, where to find it? If it still runs on todays hardware... but I guess that can be determined once I get it :-)

I know the demo you mean, although I've not run it for years. I *might* still have it on an old hd disk in a caddy from a long dead pc. It was indeed called Toys... the team that made it was named something like Gods.

I found it here just now... http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=710

Might run it myself. :)

Edit: Works fine on Win7 64-bit with an Nvidia board, although it has aged. Music's nice though.
