Topic:  Competition with prizes ( inc Demo section )
* Posted by mal_CanDo Wednesday 31 December 2008 - 15:33
Hi there,

This competition might be of interest to some of you. It uses Blender ( the open-source 3D modelling app, with built in games engine ).

Blender now supports cool features like GLSL, so it could be used to make some very cool visual eye candy.

You can see an example of GLSL ( and soft body physics ) within Blenders game engine here...

Details of the competition are here - the Best Graphics would be suitable for a Demo style entry.

You can read more info here...

The link above also includes a link to a 30 minute tutorial on using Blender and the GE, assuming no prior experience.

Enjoy!

Just a quick prompt for anyone wanting to enter the competition - the deadline for submission is the 16th of March, with an additional month to tweak / polish etc.

Here are some links to videos of Blender GE games so far.

Note that there aren't a lot of entries for the "No Python" section - this could be ideal for artist to enter ( no coding required, just some use of the built-in visual logic system to control the scene - in the first page, there is a tutorial showing how to use it ).

Best regards...
Mal
