I don't suppose there's a demo scene in new zeeland ? :)

Well, I hopped over there in februari an spent a month tracking and hiking.. The country is even more amazing as I thought it would be. If you can stand a bit of rain and the generous 30 hours of flying sardine treatment, you can experience the most beautifull country that I've seen up untill today.

I've also noticed that I shouldn't have posted this in the 'Australia' country section, for more than just the obvious reason ;)

If you ever get the chance of visiting NZ, I can highly recommend!

demoscene? here in Kiwiland? there isn't one.

I've done a lot of googling, and couldn't find anything. There are a few sceners/ex-sceners around, but no (active) groups, no parties, and no scene community discussion places or anything like that. If there is anything, it's well hidden.

I flew over to Syntax last year, planning to be at Syntax 09. Might have something to release, which would give NZ a single active one-member group.

NZ ppl that have got in touch with me via Syntax are:

tekhammer / ed / main / alumunum

Tekhammer & Ed were going to try and make it in '08 but are instead trying for '09... (ain't that right?!)

Alumunum came to Syntax '07
Main came to Syntax '08

So that's 4 I know of. I'm sure there are way more out there... they just need to sign up. Oh, Syntax '09 details TBA soon.

sweet, I didn't know there were so many of us. (Although really I should have - now I remember seeing two people registering from the north island for syntax last year, I'm guessing that was Tekhammer and Ed. And I replied to this thread alumunum started on pouet (under my old nick), where he (she? godammed gendered pronouns) mentioned he was in New Zealand.)

However, a few unconnected sceners isn't really a scene. Maybe we should get organized or something.

Also: yay syntax 09! Hope to see all you other NZ sceners there. *hint hint poke poke*

Yeah it sucks that there's no obvious scene presence in NZ. I think I'll find myself on a plane to Sydney next scene party too. Are there any more Kiwis sceners (or "would-be sceners" out there??)

Hey Sparky. I know there is a small group of chip musicians in NZ who were communicating on Chipmusic.org. Some of them are into coding too. You can also round up people from various technology clubs, universities, etc, and along the way a few people might pop out of the woodwork.
