Topic:  Syntax 2009 Registration
* Posted by cTrix Thursday 17 September 2009 - 12:15
I think most people have registered by now - and some ppl have actually registered multiple times. I can only assume because you didn't receive an automated email to confirm. Hint: it doesn't send an automated email! Next email you'll see will be at the start of Oct '09.

So if you want to check you are on the list and see who else is there, you can check:

http://www.syntaxparty.org/list_people.php

See you at the party.

Cheers!

Good to hear you are making the trip!

Be great to see a BITS Atari demo ;-) Do you require us to have an Atari at the party? Which machine would you require?

Should it? It won't be much use this year, I assume most people have already registered, but I'm willing to write the code if you tell me what the email should look like.

Thanks Main: We'll do it for 2010.

Mail out with updates will arrive at some point in next few days. (before oct 11 anyway)

The following was in response to Anakirob (who has now been deleted) who mentioned a few of the sign ups were by bots and a few other were fake

They can stay their for now. It's a pain in the butt removing sign ups and I broke the database last time. It's obvious on my side that they are mostly from a common IP and registered by one (probably drunk) person.

Edit: I've removed them now. Quite a few new people signed up. Looking forward to meeting you all!

Now - back to my chip music entry... why won't this damn thing compile...!

What would be the situation if too many people turn up? Hopefully registered attendees get first priority. Certainly a concern for those of us coming from interstate.

Just with this event having a facebook page, anything could happen.

Personally I'll be there as soon as you open the doors.

Early is a good idea I'd say! For interstate/international people we will of course ensure you have a spot. It is hard to say how Syntax will roll this year. A lot of additional people (like some chip music guys) who are rocking up with a laptop or Gameboy but will prob chill in the bar / couch area and pop out back to catch up. There are enough computer spaces for those people who indicated they were bringing oldskool computers or computers when they signed up. Those who have requested a spot for a machine will get one. It could well be a bit intimate at this Syntax, but we'll figure it out. May have to rearrange some tables before we run the main compos but we will deal. A lot of onlookers won't rock up until compo time - and we are only sending out reminders to people that have signed up to Syntax site. Facebook co will have to be pretty passionate if they want to come down.

ps. Sorry on delay for Syntax mail-out. It's coming! Am taking a week off work before Syntax to org final arrangements.

[edit!] You should have all received a Syntax email with an update. If you are really lucky, you got it twice!

Conjuror (and whoever is interested):

51 People have indicated they are coming to Syntax. 14 people are bringing either desktop PC's or Oldskool machines. 22 people are bringing laptops. And the rest are part of a crew that has a machine or are on something pocket sized.

I indicated that I wasn't bringing a computer... but it looks like I will be able to snafle one from work for the weekend.

Can you count this interstater in for cubicle as well please?

We'll just cram as many party spots in as we can. There should be room!

[edit]

We might have to get people to bring camping chairs as this is something we have overlooked!! (always the simple things) Will keep you posted...

I am bringing my huge nuts, you all can feel free to sit on them, as long as you dont have any sharp objects in your back pockets! :)

We are checking out the venue tomorrow so as to be sure you and your nuts have an appropriate party place (!) We will also check out the projector.
