| | I just moved to Sydney from Holland, wondering if there are any sceners around here and any parties planned? | | |
| Hey Mux213,
Welcome to Aus.
I'm a coder in Western Sydney. I'm active at dbfinteractive.com.
I was part of the c64 scene in Newcastle in the early 90s.
As afar as parties go, there aren't any that I'm aware of in Aus unfortunately.
Voltage | | |
| Eh? There's some threads on this very forum about parties ;)
Two parties in Aus:
www.syntaxparty.org (Melbourne)
www.notrees.org (Perth)
Come along to Syntax - it's on next month!
| | Wow, looks very cool. Thanks for the heads up. And there's a c64 compo! | | |
| | Not only that Voltage, but there is a C64 to be won! Bound to be a rocking party come November - and it's free too... | | |
| | Is that voltage as in 'voltage and viper' ? | | |
| hey voltage

| | I live in Sydney, but don't know any other sceners here. I flew down to Melbourne for Syntax last weekend, and would definitely do it again. Great party with some dedicated folks. | | |
| Hey nf,
ah a fellow sydneyer.. wherebouts are you?
| I detect anti-homo sentiment there Rob, I hope your Joking as we have a Mardi Gras here in Melbourne too Rob, In St. Kilda (Fitzroy St. and Catani gardens etc.)
Thanks for getting my A1200 firing though, Good Work ;)
| & don't forget Joy FM either - great station! (when you are up for cheesy house)
And Sydney is a rockin' place to visit; just tricky in a car if you don't know where you are going. Plus they have my favorite book store - I even found Freax demoscene book there... can't say that about any other store I've ever been in.[Post edited by cTrix on Monday 20 October 2008 - 17:39]
| Hey guys,
haven't been checking this in awhile..
No parties in Sydney, rats thats a real shame..I might head out to melbourne giving half the chance. Got a wife and kids so its a little harder to get away :) (yeah I'm an oldtimer in the scene :D )
| Have you ever heard of mucking around, That was a dig at Rob, Not you Ript, I don't even know who you are. Why are you taking me so serious :(
Anyway can you please elaborate on "what the rest Australia think of Sydney people with Mardis Gras as a main clue".
If you were talking about the Sydney-Melbourne rivalry thing, I would have conceded, But that wasn't mentioned at all.[Post edited by OneVoltSun on Saturday 15 November 2008 - 21:12]
| Sorry, OVS - I obviously mistook what you said to mean you hadn't heard that joke before.
I still think my post is useful, though, particularly on a thread started by a Dutch ex-pat on a public board with international readers (and more readers than posters) - someone won't have heard that when they were in school.
And it's not a necessarily a Sydney-Melbourne rivalry thing, more a "jokes about Sydney" thing.
I should know most of them by now since my wife's from there, and we've had the Sydney-vs-Melbourne conversation four million times by now ;)
Incidentally, I asked her grandmother about her crack but she just offered me some lines.
| Quote Ript: And it's not a necessarily a Sydney-Melbourne rivalry thing, more a "jokes about Sydney" thing.
I don't get you.[Post edited by OneVoltSun on Saturday 15 November 2008 - 21:16]
| It's really not that hard to understand.
Is "Any city-vs-Sydney" rivalry is a better choice of words? Or "the city you're in when you hear the joke for the tenth time-vs-Sydney" rivalry?
Help? Well, you could start by leaving my grandmother-in-law's stash alone.
| anycity Vs. Sydney ? Never heard of it :)
