| | well, I'll be the first person to say I'll be there! Entering a C64 executable tune & maybe a short 4k PC demo... [Post edited by cTrix on Wednesday 16 January 2008 - 19:00] | | |
| | Sounds like fun! Wish I could be there instead of freezing my ass off in Finland... :) | | |
| | How many real Amiga and C64 will be there? | | |
| Hardware:
2 x C64 w/ floppy drives
2 x Amiga 1200, one with 68060 board if we can cool it
1 x Amiga 500
We'll only have two running at any one time due to the power limitations of running the gennie.
| | I too would have a 64k PC demo. | | |
| Finally gotten around to registering here so thought I might just say Hi to cTrix & Anakirob.
I am the bloke who appeared @ Syntax 2007 from way up in the North of NSW.
I have chucked my job in since that trip & so am penny pinching a bit atm, so won't be able to make a trip to melb to check out this party, as much as I would luv to...
Cheers anyways.
LazyFox. | | |
| forgot to mention:
NEW VOTE SYSTEM IS UP AND RUNNING!!!
Anyone who voted before will have to vote again because the old system lost the lot. Thanks to a life in hell for makin' this one happen.
| Hey Ctrix.
To enter the party, do we have to be there ? as it is just a little too far to drive there from Perth? as we most properly will have at least 3 releases for the PC demo comp :)
| Hey Heavyweight.
Sounds good to me. Although make sure you save something for Syntax Party too! ;-) As anakirob says (its on the site) you can send your prod to another scener to submit on the day.
| Ctrix: sounds like a plan..
But don't worry, the prods we want to release are quite similar :) .
We still gotta work on something for Nullarbor..
so. then, need to find someone to present out stuff. ctrix, your available to present around 60 meg of Affinity goodness ? (unless error is going there ? )
| | Heavyweight... long time no see :-) 60 MEG?!! That is hardcore! Are you running video textures or something? I can see an4kirob has volluntered to submit for ya. Q: What hardware does you need to run? At this point we arn't bringing anything too high tek to the party... just a laptop at the mo. 2006 Vintage. (2.4k generator won't be giving enough juice otherwise) | | |
| I'll hand over your disc and drink your scotch =)
Wish I had enough time to guarantee an entry myself, but I'll certainly try to get one done...
Then again, how hard can it be? The Dutch have Rob is Jarig, the Swedes have Träskodansen, the Finns have Diskoexpäriment... There's more, but surely the list could be longer ...
| | Don't need nothing serious installed.. um .. the only thing is make use that there is .NET v2.0 installed :) . . | | |
| Hi, I'm thinking of comming, from The UK, can anyone put me up for a week? - you can have a free Amiga 1200 with 8MB expansion and hard disk.
rja4096@yahoo.co.uk
Please let me know, thanks, Rick.
| | Hi - I'll be there. Me and my bro. It will be a bit of travelling, but worth it for the experience. I have never been to a scene event before, so it will be something new. I have no intentions for an entry, and frankly it'd be best this way ;-) Any idea on numbers yet? | | |
| Hey Astral. Lookin forward to catching up.
No idea on numbers yet - I guess we'll just see who turns up on the day! But even if there is just a few of us and a projector with some demos it's still going to be fun. And I know myself, anakirob, TTT guys, disaster area guys, Syncronisity crew, gaiaSword and others will be there - so with you guys & a few others we could be looking at 20 - 30? Just a guess...
| Hi all
Colwyn/The Force here, thinking about popping by to say hi and even have a look at 20 TF disks i havern't oppened for 15 years.
I hope you all have heard of The Force Australia was on the 64 from 1982-1992.
Might even drag along some other Sceners.
| Would be awesome if you did drop by!
I've certainly heard of The Force... but you'd probably finished up your scene activities by the time I got into collecting various releases.
I wonder how well those disks have held their data after that amount of time =)
| Suspect they will be fine. Most of my disks work from 89/90. Just got to transfer them to d64 files.
Would be great to attend, but an eight hour drive is a bit much.
Looking forward to a report from Colwyn though.
Doctor Detroit/The Force
| Hi, a few questions. My mods are in 4 channel octamed format but I've got it on a self booting music disc with the player. Is this ok?
Will the system be stereo because they were written in mono and sound wrong :) If so can I bring a mono adapter?
| | I am quite interested in going! I never knew there were such events taking place in Melbourne, and i thought i needed to fly to Germany or Finland to see such things ( which i did last year - Breakpoint 2007 ).. So this is absolutely amazing, although finding out late makes it difficult to plan for Saturday. See what i can do. :) | | |
| Hey blade / The Force. Be sure to check out www.syntaxparty.org if you can't make it down for BP. It's looking like happening in end of July or mid August 2008. (probably Aug if I'm in Finland for Asm). We had some pretty rocking enteries in 2007, drank a lot of beer and had a great mixture of oldskool & nuskool sceners.
I'll get some of the video footage from the party up on DTV soon.
cheers

| G'day everyone! hope to be there on the beach. Last party I attended was back in '91
Az | | |
| | This is gonna be great fun, Just got something together for da mod compo, Hope ya like 'AciDDooF' | | |
| Just want to say thanks to all the organisers for the efforts with the beach party. Turned out to be a great event. It was well worth the journey from Sydney.
It was also good to meet a few of you and have a good time. I am definetely considering travelling down from Sydney again for the August party!
| Seconded! Big thanks to everyone who came along; very, very big thanks to everyone whom helped organise the gig.. especially the likes of duncbot and ehendrikd from Ballarat, you guys are great. Couldn't have done it without you.
Now, everyone go VOTE! .
| What a great night! Much better than i expected it to be, and its great to now be a part of the Syntax team :) Will be there for sure in August and every other year thereafter, not to mention i will be contributing things of my own in the future :) ..
Hell of a good time & a great job at organising the event, looking forward to Syntax 08!
| | There was a party? Did I go? I remember something about fire.... | | |
| | No it was all just one big dream in actuality, now go back to sleep and back into reality :) | | |
| | reality can bite my shiny metal ass | | |
| | Well its a been a while since you were shot in the arse during WW2, so maybe its about time you that metal arse plate removed! I mean come on!! is it really worth all those Tetanus injections every 4 weeks and going through an endless supply of Silvo to keep that arse so shiny!? :-D | | |
| Hey Guyz, not sure if your email is working (just got a bounce on it).
Thanks for the event the Sat night, was really good. The release on the
website though from me seems to have been truncated, it is meant to be
825kb, but on the website it is 251kb, and when downloaded is missing half
the sample data from the XM. Here is a link on my website to download it
from,
click here if you want to get another copy. Otherwise, the disk should be ok (as it played
ok on Saturday) that I submitted on?
Cheers,

| thanks mate. Yeah, I've just noticed the same things happened to the MP3 version of my SID file. :-/
I've had huge FTP problems tonight.
| | Sanity - just fixed your XM (and my SID render). It should work fine now :-) | | |
| Hello,
just wanted to inform you, that neither the given link in the News (at BitFellas), nor the voting system works.
Regards,
Bobic | | |
| Thanks for that Bobic. You are right.
The whole vote system no longer exists on the server and all votes have been deleted. Not a trace of any of the files that were on there before. I'm seriously having a crap day today!
Can someone here join the admin team and program a vote system that works and host it for us? There's been some wierd shit happening on the Syntax site.
Contact us on the email address listed at http://syntaxparty.org/contact.html [Post edited by cTrix on Monday 25 February 2008 - 15:28]
| Dear cTrix,
Can you please type in on the module I entered in the BP'08 Tracker compo ' Only works in "XMPlay' so far that I'm aware of. (Of course Fastracker2.09 should work fine too.) '
The party was a hoot, Sorry too all the people I might have been rude too, I wasn't exactly all together there if you what I mean :) he,he
Had to leave early, Wish I'd stayed for the fire, Bugger! You should've got that goin' earlier.
I'm keen to do a demo with someone too, (A programmer is especially wanted (as always))
I'll be working on a full blown stereo remix of Nature is Conciousness for Syntax '08, Will of course do any other music you require (like small Chip mods/Sid tunes etc.)and maybe some 1200 Gfx too.. (My 1200 should arrive from England tomorrow with Deluxe Paint 5)
Matty. | | |
| yeah, I just realized email account is not deleting properly. Buzz me saturday evening coz I'm way too busy to even think until then.
I've re-uploaded your gif. The server has been truncating files them up with 0's (maybe the FTP program, back to DOS FTP for now) It did the same to my SID file and Sanity's XM too.
Gotta fly. I'm taking a month of work mid March / April so will certainly work on some Amiga stuffs then :-)
| Just a reminder for people who were there, (and otherwise feel like doing so :-p): VOTE! Only a few votes have been received so far.... so come on people :)
EDIT: After all, stalin says that he who counts the votes is who decides the result ;).[Post edited by a life in hell on Sunday 2 March 2008 - 12:45]
| Wasn't there, but you got my votes anyway.
Some cool music was written for the party.
Steve/TF | | |
| Was wondering who intends to produce a C64 demo for the delayed Beach Party demo comp?
Good time frame... 2 months, just about right considering other commitments.
Steve
DRD/TF | | |
| Cool no one, so I can enter my 8x8 plasma and still win...
Gone fishin.
Steve
DRD/TF | | |
| No probs anakirob. I've been way busy too so May sounds good - just make it after the 8th! I've still got your sunnies, eski and mavica sitting in my lounge from Beach Party too - will have to drop 'em off soon.
Let me know the date for catch up and I'll send out a note mid-may to the syntax / aussie email list. Although people seem to be checking in here from time to time. Have to organise Syntax 08 too... gaiaSword, ript? Anyone else want to help?!
Conjuror: Looks like your 8x8 plazzie could be the winner! Although it could be up against the worlds lamest RSIDemomaker demo... (if only there were more hours in a day!)
| Time is the big killer with this stuff. Getting back up to speed and getting into Kick Assembler… what a great tool.
Won’t be satisfied with an 8x8 plasma, but any more resolution seems to mean sacrifice either of colours or the plasma no longer been truly dynamic. Got some ideas though.
cTrix, as long as the music is good. Leave the demo coding to the coders…(not such a fixed line on the 64), but I'll leave music and gpx to the musicians and artists (for this, the world is grateful.)
Steven
Conjuror/TF
ps: Changed my handle | | |
| | conjourer: you should be able to get it up to 4x4 by doing a 4fli for the y (see codebase.c64.org for a routine), and 4-offset interlacing for the x pixels | | |
| Just the man I wanted to hear from on that subject, saw your demo. Nice work.
Guess from my old school demo days, everything had to run under 1 update. Would you say thats no longer the case?
I'm on CSDB alot so if you want to talk code PM (or email) me. Got some interesting ideas.

| Right, well I'm back from my honeymoon.
Breakpoint rocked =)
Happy to help out with Syntax08 ... we should probably organise a meeting at some point to sort out what stuff should be assigned to who.
Oh, and ALIH - I probably can give you your jumper back now! I got so flat out with the wedding and all, not to mention leaving for Thailand almost immediately after the event, that I totally forgot about it. Sorry about that.
| Hope things are ok with you Anakirob? If you need to chat about it, then let me know in an email, and sorry for not getting back to your previous email, i have just been flat out busy. I have set my A1200 up again though, and i will be installed my IDE Buffered Interface that has been sitting here for about 4 months! lol... The main problem was not having a Monitor for my A1200, but i recently just forked out a measly $25 for a 21 Inch Trinitron Monitor for my PeeCee and now i have my other CRT monitor on my A1200 via a Scan Doubler, so i will be getting Protracker and OctaMED installed again.
Anyway... Let us know in May when you wish to ogranise the meet and i will be there. I will keep on the lookout too for a venue :)
| yeah... my fault! (at airport waiting for flight) I may also be at Assembly, which means Syntax Demoparty could well be in September instead of August :-D. We will let you know when it's going to happen soon, but it sounds like you've got a couple more months more to get your prods ready.
Plus (hopefully) being September might mean it won't be as cold this time around!
| Hello everyone here downunder, Just spoke with Anaki(ROB) today, Seems things are going OK !
ALIH! Cannot wait to find out the answers to life you hold ;) (I'm a 64 nut, Please hang out with me :) )[Post edited by The King on Wednesday 25 June 2008 - 11:49]
| Hi ppl's,
All seems very quiet on the Syntax 2008 front, so just wondering if there might be any update on when it might be happening?
| Awesome!
Syntax will be mid october on a weekend. Just sitting in a bar now discussing dates with gaiaSword. Yes; we are here on a friday night at a bar with our wireless lappy... sceners priorities hey...
| | laptop in a bar: what could possibly go wrong? :-p | | |
| Nothing could go wrong in comparison to what my laptop has just been though!!
I've been Skiing last week and when we came to reload the car on Sunday (stress) the eski wouldn't fit so we juggled some bags around. In the juggle, my laptop was unloaded and accidently left IN THE SNOW at THE CARPARK at Falls Creek. Weather conditions have been -5c and a blizzard dumping 30 cm of powder snow. We drove home (6 hours) and it was only when we unpacked that we relized the laptop was still sitting outside in the Falls carpark. That was at 1am this morning.
I gave up on ever seeing it again however someone had found the bag, bothered to walk it to lost property, and it arrived at S.cross station a few hours ago on the bus. Everything intact, if a little shaken.
I've got it sitting here booted up and it seems to be working perfectly. Held it's charge and everything. (some call it luck!)
| | goddamn, your laptop wins the hardcore award for 2008, heh | | |
