Subject: [www] Request for a poll
Content:
In the light of the discussions going on at
macscene forum and pouet.net bbs about Breakpoint not allowing Mac demos in the PC compo, I would like to request a poll on scene.org.
A poll that will allow all sceners to express whether they think Mac demos should be in the PC compo, or in the wild compo.
With this information, the organizers of Breakpoint (and other parties) can re-evaluate their compo rules, and the Mac sceners will know where they belong, according to the scene.[Post edited by psenough on Thursday 12 February 2004 - 10:51]
| | Let them meet the pc people head-to-head and perhaps the mac people would try harder to make quality releases! It can't be that funny making a really good demo and then lose against a couple of germans dancing on the stage, calling it a wild entry... ;-) | | |
| Fine. And than, I want to watch the BP results, load them down and some don't run. (I had that problem with the results of Pilgrimage ;) )
The point is:
Whatever the organizers' decision will be, some people will say yes, some people will say no.
And the organizers are the fucked ones.
| however, i find "play them in the pc compo" kindof badly phrased, i would go for "combine democompos for highend platforms" or the like .. but that might trash the design on the frontpage (to long text)..
maybe "Merge with pcompo" is better? :)
| | people get the point anyways me thinks. | | |
| This poll is missing the most obvious option:
"play them in a mac demo compo".
| due to popular demand the poll was reorganized with better answers and restarted.
for the records, "just put them in pc compo" was ahead of "just put them in the wild compo" at the time of the reset. :)
maybe due to the angry mac mob, maybe not. ;)
| "play them in a mac demo compo" is the whole point that started this discussion. BP wants 5 entries at least, for a compo, the website says. It is actually going to be 3 now, I think...
But still, there will probably not be 3 (good) Mac prods... So there will either not be a compo at all, or the compo will not be much of a competition.
Which is what brought up the question in the first place: if you cannot have a decent Mac-only compo, do the Macs enter wild or PC compo?
So the entire Mac-compo option is not relevant, and should not have been added. It makes the poll lose the original point.
| | Lator gets a mac and suddenly there's a huge fuss about macs, what's up with that? :) | | |
| | Everyone want's to be just like lator and one day, hopefully, I wish I could be just like him. ;-) | | |
| | Where's the "Just burn all the Macs"-option? | | |
| | And when there will be situation, that some guyz will bring their Pegasos machine and demo for it? Just make hi-end machine demo compo for systems/computers like pc, mac, linux, pegasos etc. And ofcourse low-end demo compo for Amiga 68k. | | |
| | The Breakpoint organizing team is happy to comply with the scenes wishes: Breakpoint 2004 will feature a mac demo compo. Information about this (and the other) competition(s) is available at the Breakpoint website at http://breakpoint.untergrund.net now. | | |
| | Well, if you comply entirely with the scene wishes, that means the Mac-demos will be entered in the PC (highend) compo, if there aren't enough to support a separate Mac-compo, judging from the votes. | | |
